{"id":286,"date":"2013-04-22T05:46:28","date_gmt":"2013-04-22T04:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/?p=286"},"modified":"2013-04-22T05:46:28","modified_gmt":"2013-04-22T04:46:28","slug":"migrate-from-sbs-2008-or-2011-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/?p=286","title":{"rendered":"Migrate from SBS 2008 or 2011 (Part 4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\">Backup Exchange Data<\/span><\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Follow this steps to back up the data in Exchange using Windows Server Backup so it can be restored on the new server running Exchange Server 2007.\u00a0 You are free to use another backup and restore solution, but that will not be covered in this document.\u00a0 If you choose to use Windows Server Backup, you should have Exchange 2007 Service Pack 2 or later installed so that the Exchange backup plugin is registered. You will also need to install Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 or later on the new server in order to have the Exchange backup plugin available for the restore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Using Windows Server Backup<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Start Windows Server Backup.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the <strong>Actions<\/strong> pane, click <strong>Backup Once\u2026. <\/strong>The <strong>Backup Once Wizard <\/strong>appears.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Backup options <\/strong>page select <strong>Different options <\/strong>and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Select backup configuration <\/strong>page select the type of backup that you want and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Full server (recommended)<\/strong> to back up all volumes on the server.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Custom<\/strong> to specify which volumes should be included in the backup. If you select this option, the <strong>Select backup items <\/strong>page appears. Select the volumes to be backed up and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Specify destination type <\/strong>page select the location where you want to store the backup and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>. If <strong>Remote shared folder <\/strong>is selected, the Specify remote folder page appears. Specify a UNC path for the backup files and then do one of the following, to configure Access Control settings:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Do not inherit<\/strong>, if you want the backup to be accessible only by a set of specified user credentials and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>. Type user name and password for a user account that has write permissions on the computer that is hosting the remote folder and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Inherit<\/strong>, if you want the backup to be accessible by everyone who has access to the remote folder and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Specify advanced options <\/strong>page select <strong>VSS full backup <\/strong>and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Confirmation<\/strong> page review the backup settings and then click <strong>Backup<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Backup progress page<\/strong>, you can view the status and progress of the backup operation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click <strong>Close<\/strong>, when the backup operation is completed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Using a file copy backup<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Note: This step is recommended as a second backup of the Exchange data in the event you plan on migrating the Messaging server to the same hardware in the unlikely event you are unable to restore the Exchange data from your primary backup method after the server is reinstalled.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Start the Exchange Management Console.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Expand <strong>Server Configuration <\/strong>and click on <strong>Mailbox<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Database Management <\/strong>tab make a note of all the Database File Paths for all the Databases listed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">View the properties of every <strong>Storage Groups <\/strong>listed and make a note of every <strong>Log Path <\/strong>and <strong>System Path<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Stop the <strong>Microsoft Exchange Information Store <\/strong>service.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Make a backup copy of all folders you noted in steps 3-4 to removable media or a location that will not be formatted when the\u00a0Exchange server is reinstalled later in this document.<\/span><\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\">?<\/span><\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;\">Install the\u00a0Exchange Server<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Using a copy of 64-bit Windows Server 2008R2 Standard Edition, install a new server. The server should be joined to the domain manually as a member server. Once the server is installed, apply all the Windows Service Packs and updates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">There is no requirement that the Messaging Server should be a domain controller. If you have additional DCs, it is not recommended making this server a DC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: large; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Install Exchange and Migrate Data<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">To install the Windows Server 2008R2 operating system prerequisites, for a computer that will host the Hub Transport, Client Access, and Mailbox server roles, use the Powershell interface:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In Start menu run <strong>PowerShell<\/strong> as Administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In PowerShell windows type <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Import-Module ServerManager<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Wait for the command to be completed and then type <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Add-WindowsFeature NET-Framework,RSAT-ADDS,Web-Server,Web-Basic-Auth,Web-Windows-Auth,Web-Metabase,Web-Net-Ext,Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console,WAS-Process-Model,RSAT-Web-Server,Web-ISAPI-Ext,Web-Digest-Auth,Web-Dyn-Compression,NET-HTTP-Activation,Web-Asp-Net,Web-Client-Auth,Web-Dir-Browsing,Web-Http-Errors,Web-Http-Logging,Web-Http-Redirect,Web-Http-Tracing,Web-ISAPI-Filter,Web-Request-Monitor,Web-Static-Content,Web-WMI,RPC-Over-HTTP-Proxy -Restart<\/span>. This command will install all prerequisites needed by a typical installation of Exchange. After the command will be complete, the server will restart.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Install Exchange Server 2010 <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Download and install Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Packs from <a href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkId=191548\">http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkId=191548<\/a> .<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Install <strong>Exchange Server 2010 <\/strong>from a media or a downloaded copy by lunching <strong>setup.exe <\/strong>in the root folder on the Exchange DVD or extracted folder.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Introduction window <\/strong>click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>License Agreement <\/strong>window check <strong>I Accept the terms in the License agreement <\/strong>and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Error reporting <\/strong>window click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Installation type <\/strong>window select <strong>Typical Exchange Server Installation<\/strong>, check <strong>Automatically install Windows Server roles and features required for Exchange <\/strong>and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Configure Client Access server external domain <\/strong>check <strong>The Client Access server role will be Internet facing<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Enter the domain name you will use with your external Client Access servers <\/strong>type the name of your MX record (for example: <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">mail.contoso.com<\/span>).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Customer Experience Improvement Program <\/strong>click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Readiness Check <\/strong>that all requisites are installed (all checkmark must be green) and click <strong>Install<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Review that all tasks has completed successfully and click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In this time, you must change the firewall and the DNS setting. Now the new exchange is ready to receive and send mails. This will be possible after you change the forwarding roles on your firewall. You must change forwarding roles for ports <strong>25, 80 and 443<\/strong> to messaging server IP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Some changes in DNS are also needed. To do this follow the procedure:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Open Start menu, <strong>Administrative tools <\/strong>and lunch <strong>DNS<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the left pane expand <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">SERVER_NAME<\/span>, Forward lookup zones (Where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">SERVER_NAME <\/span>is the name of the DNS Server).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Expand <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">EXERNAL_DOMAIN_NAME <\/span>and select A Record for the name of remote access \u2013 by default is remote and right-click properties (<span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">INTERNAL_DOMAIN_NAME <\/span>is the name of RWW).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Change the IP address with the address of the new messaging server.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\"><strong>Creating data and migrating users to the new Exchange server<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst step to do is creating a new Offline Address Book:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Open Start menu and open <strong>Microsoft Exchange Management Shell <\/strong>as Administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Type the command <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">New-Offlineaddressbook -name &#8220;OAB_NAME&#8221;default global address list&#8221; -server &#8220;SERVER_NAME\u201d<\/span> (where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">OAB_NAME <\/span>is the name of Offline Address Book and <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">SERVER_NAME <\/span>is the name of Messaging server).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">After the new OAB is created, it must be updated with the command <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Update-OfflineAddressbook -Identity &#8220;OAB_NAME&#8221;.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">At this point we must set this OAB as default OAB for Mailbox Database on Messaging server with the command <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase \u2013offlineaddressbook &#8220;OAB_NAME&#8221;<\/span>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">After the database is ready, you can begin moving Mailbox Location with pipeline <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Get-Mailbox -Server SBS_SERVER | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase &#8220;NEW_DATABASE&#8221;<\/span> (where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">SBS_SERVER <\/span>is the name of the SBS Server and <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">NEW_DATABASE <\/span>is the name of the Mailbox database on Messaging server). During the move operation, user will be able to send and receive mails, but when the operation is completed, he will be prompted to restart Outlook.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">At the end they remain only public folders.
