If you are using SBS SharePoint, you might wish to migrate it. SBS deployments that don\u2019t use this component, can skip this step.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">You will be able to attach a content database to a destination server only if the version of SBS SharePoint is SP2 or later and the content database is prepared for migration.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">To check the version of SharePoint, follow this steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In Start menu go to <strong>Administrative tools <\/strong>and lunch <strong>SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click on <strong>Operations<\/strong> in top menu.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click on <strong>Servers in farm <\/strong>on the left pane.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the right pane you can see the SharePoint version of Small Business Server. If it is SP2, the number must be at least <strong>12.0.0.6421<\/strong>. For migration proposes it will be acceptable any version greatest of this one.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Before you begin with migration, it is necessary to verify upgrade readiness on SBS Server. Follow this steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Open <strong>Command prompt <\/strong>as Administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Navigate to folder <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWeb Server Extensions12BIN<\/span>, where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">C:<\/span> is the name of the system drive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Run the Command <strong>STSADM.EXE -o preupgradecheck<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Review the report located in <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWeb Server Extensions12LOGS <\/span>and search for errors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">If there are no errors, the site is ready to upgrade, otherwise correct all the errors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the new server install SharePoint Foundation following this steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Download the package from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=5970\">http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=5970<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Run the downloaded package and click <strong>Install software prerequisites<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On SharePoint preparation tool click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Accept EULA and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">It will take few minutes to complete all installation tasks. After this click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Rerun the downloaded package and select <strong>Install SharePoint Foundation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Accept EULA and click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On <em>Choice the installation you want<\/em> <strong>select Server Farm<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">It will take few minutes to complete the installation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <em>Installation complete<\/em> screen, leave the checkbox in <strong>Run configuration wizard <\/strong>and click <strong>Close<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Complete the Configuration Wizard specifying your configuration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click on Start, All Programs, SharePoint 2010 Products and lunch <strong>SharePoint 2010 Central Administration<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the Web Applications section click <strong>Manage Web Application<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the Ribbon click <strong>New<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Create Web Application <\/strong>window change those values:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the <strong>IIS Web Site <\/strong>section:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Create a new IIS Web Site<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the <strong>Host Header <\/strong>box type your desired host name.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the <strong>Application Pool <\/strong>section:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Create new Application pool<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Configurable<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Type the Account used for running the application pool.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In the <strong>Database Name and Authentication <\/strong>section:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Database name <\/strong>type the desired name of the database (later will be removed).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the bottom of the page click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the <strong>Application created <\/strong>screen, click the <strong>OK<\/strong> button.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">To transfer content database to the new server, follow this steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On SBS Server lunch <strong>SQL 2005 Management studio<\/strong> as Administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In Connect to Server window in Server Name type: <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">\\.pipeMSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEEsqlquery <\/span>and click <strong>Connect<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Expand Databases and right-click on <strong>ShareWebDB<\/strong>, then click to Task, <strong>Backup\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>BackUp Database <\/strong>window, under <strong>Backup destination<\/strong>, select <strong>Disk<\/strong> and click <strong>Add\u2026<\/strong> to select backup file name.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click <strong>OK<\/strong> and wait the job to complete.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Transfer the backup file to the new server<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the new server run <strong>SQL 2008R2 Management studio <\/strong>as Administrator (or another version of the supported SQL server).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Connect to desired instance and right-click on databases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Select <strong>Restore Databases\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Restore Database <\/strong>window add parameters do this:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>To Database <\/strong>write the name of database to restore \u2013 <strong>ShareWebDB<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Source for Restore <\/strong>select <strong>From Device <\/strong>and use the button (<strong>\u2026<\/strong>) to select the backup file of database.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Click <strong>OK<\/strong> and wait that task complete.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">To transfer content to new server we will use the attach database method. This could be done using this steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Go to Start, All Programs, SharePoint 2010 Products and run <strong>SharePoint 2010 Management Shell <\/strong>as Administrator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In Shell type <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Test-SPContentDatabase -name ShareWebDB -WebApplication http:\/\/&lt;SITE_NAME&gt;:80<\/span> (where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">&lt;SITE_NAME&gt;<\/span> is the name of the Web Application and ShareWebDB is the name of the transferred database).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">It is all normal, if you don\u2019t have any output.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In Shell type\u00a0 <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">Mount-SPContentDatabase -WebApplication http:\/\/&lt;SITE_NAME&gt; sharewebdb <\/span>(where <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">&lt;SITE_NAME&gt;<\/span> is the name of the Web Application and ShareWebDB is the name of the\u00a0 transferred database).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Check in Internet Explorer for the availability of site <span style=\"font-family: courier new,courier;\">http:\/\/&lt;SITE_NAME&gt;.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">Verify the migrated content by browsing the web site.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">On the web site go to <strong>Site Settings <\/strong>and select <strong>Visual Upgrade<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">In <strong>Visual Upgrade <\/strong>window, in Visual Upgrade section, select <strong>Update the user interface <\/strong>and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: times new roman,times;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Migrate from SBS 2008 or 2011 (Part 4)\" href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/?p=286\">Migrate from SBS 2008 or 2011 (Part 4)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Migrate from SBS 2008 or 2011 (Part 2)\" href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/?p=222\">Migrate from SBS 2008 or 2011 (Part 2)<\/a><a style=\"text-decoration:none\" href=\"\/index.php?s=discount-strattera\">.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Migrate SharePoint Data (Optional) This step is an optional.
