This job is done by the RDP Licensing server. I want to explain the process of migrating licenses from Windows Server 2008R2 to Server 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The process is easy, but before you start the migration, is necessary to have the documentation for all licenses (you need authorization numbers or keys during the migration process).<br \/>\nThe first step is the installation of the RDP Licensing role in <em>Server Manager <\/em>true <em>Add Roles and Features Wizard<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-145\" title=\"RDPL01\" src=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL01.png 799w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL01-300x107.png 300w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL01-624x224.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here you have to select <em>Role-based or Feature-based installation <\/em>and in the <em>Server Role <\/em>step you have to check <em>Remote Desktop Services<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-146\" title=\"RDPL02\" src=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL02.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL02.png 803w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL02-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL02-624x397.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Later, on Remote Desktop Services, on the step Role Services, you have to check <em>Remote Desktop Licensing <\/em>(of course you can check also other functionalities if you need them).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-147\" title=\"RDPL03\" src=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL03.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL03.png 802w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL03-300x124.png 300w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL03-624x258.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Complete the wizard.<br \/>\nIn the <em>Server Manager <\/em>menu <em>Tools<\/em>, <em>Terminal Services<\/em>, open the <em>Remote Desktop Licensing Manager<\/em>, right click on the installed server and select <em>Activate server<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL04.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-148\" title=\"RDPL04\" src=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL04.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL04.png 548w, https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL04-300x122.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Add your data and complete the activation wizard.<br \/>\nThe next step is transferring the licenses from the old server to the new one. To do this, you have to right click on the newly installed server and select <em>Manage Licenses<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL05.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-150\" title=\"RDPL05\" src=\"https:\/\/em-soft.si\/myblog\/elvis\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/RDPL05.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will open the <em>Manage licenses wizard<\/em>. As the first step, select <em>Migrate licenses form another server to this license server <\/em>and select the reason (in most cases is The source server is begin replaced by this license server).
